IRS: The IRS website has a wealth of information for non-profits and charitable organizations, and is surprisingly user friendly.
CA Secretary of State: Since we are located in CA as are many of our clients, we include this particular link.
USA.gov: If you are located elsewhere in the US, this site provides links to all 50 states requirements for non-profit formation and other information.
Alliance for Justice: This advocacy group has an entire section devoted to non-profits and related law and regulation, with a particular emphasis on lobbying and advocacy.
NOLO: This is a veritable encyclopedia of non-profit law and all information is free.
Office of Management and Budget: This is the place to read and learn about OMB circulars, which govern all Federal contracts, grants and accounting and reporting requirements.
Finance and Accounting:
Management Help.org: This is an excellent overview of the basic requirements and structure of non-profit accounting by Carter McNamara, another expert in the field.
Intuit.com: Makers of QuickBooks , one of the more common accounting packages for small to mid-size non-profit organizations.
Nonprofit Accounting Basics.org: This is a link to a very complete overview site on Nonprofit accounting, including the role of the Board, the Finance Committee and the Audit Committee.
Nonprofits Assistance Fund.org: This is an excellent page, with a wealth of resources on all topics nonprofit finance related.
Federal Grant Management:
Grants.gov: The definitive site for researching available and upcoming Federally sponsored grant opportunities.
National Grants Management Association: This is the site for the largest Grant Management association in the US (of which we are a member). For anyone involved in managing Federal grants, this organization has a lot to offer.
